a poem lost, a poem found:
the poetry of kevin bennett
The Thief
One day as I was walking through the woods
I heard a shout
I looked around to see what made the noise
But nothing was about
Then I saw it; I saw a crying plant
I asked her what happened
This is what she said
“The wind took my children,” she said,
Standing tall and stout
I heard rustling in the trees
Of the wind stealing the leaves
Then I heard the woeful sighs
From all the mother trees
Then I shouted as loud as I could
“You cursed thiefly breeze,
You should be ashamed of your deeds!”
But the wind just shrugged
And went back to stealing seeds
